World of Hacks

It’s a World of Hacks. Got home from work yesterday and went to sign onto WoW. My password didn’t work. One time, it’s probably a typo. Three times is a bigger issue. I went to WoW’s page to take a look at my account to see if my payment methods had expired or something along those lines. Couldn’t sign in.

That’s when I realized I’d been hacked. Sent a password change through, redid my password and got back into the game. I was in Vent at the time as well with my Guild Leader. When my characters popped up and I saw my main standing there completely naked, I told my Guild Leader I’d been hacked and she better check the Guild Bank.

She got in and saw that one of my alts had cleaned out the armor and the elementals from the bank. She put the bank in lock down. My main character had been wiped clean (armor, items and gold) my second highest character had the same. My AH toon had been cleaned out of most of her inventory and all of her gold.

I put in a ticket and advised my GL to do the same for the Guild bank. I was contacted by a GM and, this morning, received emails that a lot of the items from my characters had been restored although they were still investigating the situation.

On the upside, my guildies are awesome. One came over, took me to the AH and bought me a complete new armor set to ‘tide me over.’ Other guildies sent me items, gold, and gems to help me out. I have a most awesome guild.

But man… hackers… how petty is it to bust into a game and steal fake gold?! What in the hell?
